A lotus blooms every morning from a garden pot on the magical island of Kauai.

An F/A-18 Superhornet leaves streaks of light and a shower of sparks as it lands on the flightdeck of USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) during night flight-ops. A 5-second shutter shows its progress from about 1/8-mile out until the moment the tailhook strikes the deck and pulls the arresting wire.

Here I recreated a picture I took last year that has gotten me a lot of compliments. (http://epiqs.smugmug.com/gallery/2561666_b44ug/1/134777227_FFqde#134777227_FFqde) I wanted to use my new lens (Canon 17-85 IS) and hopefully "fix" some of the things that bugged me about the original, namely the clarity and sharpness. After about 20 shots, I think I succeeded :)

Here's a grasshopper that was on my front walk this morning. 300mm taken from about 5-feet away. I tried to make it an action shot by having my wife startle him into a jump but the little bugger was too quick for me.

My Dream Car! Ferrari F-430 Scuderia : Here it is. My dream car. The Ferrari F-430 Scuderia. I saw this little gem sitting in a tuner's storefront in the Wan Chai district of Hong Kong just begging me to take it for a drive ... or at least snap a few shots. I'll take what I can get. These were shot in color but the starkness of the property and matte black finish on the car make the shots appear black and white.
